In September 2012 at the 25th SMM exhibition VAF Instruments, the worldwide market leader in sensors and systems for viscosity control, fuel flowmeters, ODME and propeller torque, will reveal their latest innovative application: the TT-Sense, an optical thrust and torque measuring system.
From 2013 having a SEEMP (Ship Energy Efficiency Management Plan) on board will become mandatory for all vessels on their first renewal or intermediary survey.
The TT-Sense anticipates on these developments in the shipping industry and will help to make the implementation of your SEEMP a success.
Fuel efficiency and environmental footprint nowadays are important issues for regulatory bodies. Continuously monitoring the performance of the vessel’s propulsion system and hull will optimize revenues and reduce the environmental impact.
The new TT-Sense optical thrust and torque sensor is using nanotechnology and has an innovative design. The TT-Sense will precisely measure the propeller thrust and shaft power. The efficiency of the propulsion system is monitored and will be a reliable indicator for the roughness of the vessel’s hull, resulting in fuel savings up to 5%. Based on actual fuel prices the ROI will be only weeks.
